Diversifying portfolio is a great idea when planning an investment. And, investing overseas can also add a major boost to your portfolio.Radhika Gupta, MD and CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund, took to Twitter on Tuesday to share some pros and cons of investing abroad. For the ‘good’ list, Gupta said the scope of growth round the clock is high as different markets perform at different times. Also, global markets have access to ideas that are not present in India. She also said that hedging dollars against rupee will also bump up the returns whenever the Indian currency depreciates.
Adding to the ‘bad’ reasons that can hurt the country, the 38-year-old AMC boss said global funds come with higher returns and lesser risks, but can beat India. In the end, “remember equity is equity,” she emphasised.

Feeling optimistic on a Tuesday morning, Gupta also pointed out small things can make a big difference in people’s lives. Even when people can afford anything, a little free gift always cheers up some people.
